Early Season Alumni Standouts
Men
To nobody’s surprise, the opening phase of the 2019 season has been the Pat Spencer (UAAA 2015) show. Loyola’s senior attackman has posted seven points in each of his first three games while leading the Greyhounds to a unanimous №1 ranking. At this early stage of the season he is the heavy favorite to become the fifth Under Armour All-American to win the Tewaaraton Award.
Syracuse’s Bradley Voight, coming off his ACC Player of the Week honors, helped the Orange defeat a determined Army squad, 10–8, in the Dome. The 2014 Under Armour All-American netted a career high six goals in a win over Albany on February 16.
Maryland’s sophomore attackman Logan Wisnauskas (UAAA 2016) posted a career-best eight points on three goals and five assists as the 5–0 Terps surged to №2 in the national rankings after a convincing 14–9 victory at Navy. He leads the Terps in scoring with 27 points thru five games.
Women
Maryland senior Caroline Steele (UAAA 2015 MVP) picked up the groundball off the draw in overtime then ripped a sidearm shot past Carolina goalie Taylor Moreno (UAAA 2016) for a thrilling 13–12 win as the №2 Terps scratched by the №3 Tarheels in an instant classic in College Park.
Duke’s Charlotte North (UAAA 2017 MVP) scored three goals in Duke’s 11–10 OT win over Virginia Tech. North has posted 26 points on 18 goals and 8 assists thru the Blue Devils’ first four games.
The nation’s assist leader also earned the MVP trophy in the 2016 Under Armour All-America game. UNC’s Katie Hoeg has amassed 16 helpers and 6 goals in 4 games.
